Welcome to ChatterPath. We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information. ChatterPath is an Australian-based service operated from Perth, Western Australia. We comply with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

By using the Service, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described here. ChatterPath does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Our Service is designed for parents and caregivers who are at least 18 years old.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide

Account Information: Name, email address, password (encrypted), account preferences. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google (subject to Google's Privacy Policy).
Child Profile Information: Child's first name (no surname required), age range, selected goals, materials available, time preferences.
Activity Usage: Activities completed, dates and durations, engagement ratings, notes, progress data, favorites.
Payment Information: For subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or direct purchases (processed by Stripe Inc.). We do NOT store credit card numbers. We only receive confirmation of payment status.
Communications: Support messages, survey responses, feedback.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Device and usage information (IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, session information), cookies for authentication and analytics, and general location based on IP address. We do NOT collect precise GPS location.

2.2.1 Cookies and Similar Technologies

Essential cookies: Supabase authentication tokens required for secure login (cannot opt out).
No analytics or advertising cookies are currently implemented. You can manage cookies in your browser, but disabling essential tokens will prevent Service use.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Child's photograph or date of birth
  • Medical diagnoses or health records
  • Social security numbers
  • Precise geolocation
  • Sensitive personal information beyond what's necessary

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide access to features and personalized recommendations
  • Track activity completion and generate progress reports
  • Communicate service updates, reminders, and support
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

Analytics are always anonymized and aggregated. We never sell individual user data.

4. How We Share Your Information

4.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Personal Information: ChatterPath does NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

4.2 Service Providers: We share information with trusted providers including Supabase (Hosting/Auth in Mumbai, India), Stripe Inc., Apple Inc., and Google LLC for payments. All providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.

4.3 What We Will NEVER Do: Sell data to advertisers, share child info without consent, use data to train AI without permission, track location, or display targeted ads.

4.4 Legal Requirements & 4.5 Aggregated Data: We may disclose info to comply with legal processes or share anonymized, aggregated data for research and product improvement.

5. How We Protect Your Information

We implement technical safeguards like HTTPS/TLS encryption, secure password hashing, and role-based access controls. Our database uses row-level security and we maintain regular backups. While we implement strong measures, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We will notify you promptly in the event of a breach.

6. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Access & Update: View/update info in Settings anytime.
Delete: Delete your account via Settings. Removal occurs within 90 days.
Export: Request data export at info@chatterpathapp.com within 30 days.
Opt Out: Unsubscribe from marketing anytime (transactional emails excluded).
Global Rights: We comply with GDPR, CCPA, and the Australian Privacy Principles. Complaints can be lodged with the OAIC.

7. Data Retention

Active account data is retained while the account is active. Free accounts may be deleted after 3 years of inactivity. Upon deletion, personal data is anonymized within 7 days, and financial records are retained for 7 years as required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

ChatterPath is designed for parents (18+). We do not collect information directly from children. Parents provide limited child info (first name, age range, goals) for activity tracking. If you believe we have inadvertently collected info from a child under 13, contact us at info@chatterpathapp.com.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored on Supabase servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the ap-south-1 region (Mumbai, India). As an Australian-based service, we disclose that your data is transferred to and stored in India. Supabase and AWS maintain SOC 2 Type II compliance and use industry-standard encryption safeguards.

10. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices and encourage you to read their specific privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or laws. For material changes, we will provide at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notification before they take effect.
